“Origin: Early 1900s, Romania. This jug was handmade in a monastery near the Moldovan boarder. Utilitarian items were made from the monasteries own earth, and decorated with pigments from the ground. This jug would have once been used for serving water. The unglazed clay is porous and would have helped to keep the contents cool due to the clay staying cool. Now it would be best used as an ornamental piece or vase.”
