Jack Merriot (1901-68) was one of the best-known and most famous creators of British travel posters during their golden age, creating a large body of work for British Rail and the GPO. This framed print came from Waterloo Station (a label to this effect is attached) and is not a poster but nor, as far as we can tell, is it an original. It is very similar to the poster Merriot created for British Rail showing Hereford Market, though this simply has Market Day hand painted at bottom left. It is a lovely strong piece in very good condition and at a very good price.
