"This is such a cutie and we haven't seen one like this before with. As a collector of old lanterns we were quite excited to find this little red French vintage oil lamp. It has a very used time-worn appearance but even still it is robust and intact. It's a really solid little thing and certainly stood the test of time. The gorgeous original red paint is still a dominant colour and the red glass insets are crudely cut and rest on metal clips within the lamp. Due to the crudeness of cutting the glass can slip but can easily be adjusted to fit properly. As we can't find anything comparable to compare this with it's difficult to date this but by the way it is constructed we would hazard a guess that this dates back to the early 1900s.
There is still an original wick within the lamp and although we haven't tried to light it there is every indication that it will still work. This will be difficult to part with."
