Seller. Debbie Kendall of The Enlightened Hound.

“Francesco Piranesi was an Italian printmaker and architect born in 1720. This print shows details of columns from the portico of the Pantheon. It is from the book Roman Architecture, Sculpture & Monument, published by E. & F.N. Spon in 1900 (Plate LXXXIV-V). The original etching was published in 1756 in Antichita Romane - Piranesi’s defining work. It will fit best in a standard A1 size frame with a mount. For a print that is over 100 years old it is in good condition though there are several tears around the edge and one corner is missing. When framed these tears would be hidden by the mount. The thick paper has a beautiful old yellowed patina.”
