“Francesco Piranesi was an Italian printmaker and architect born around 1720. This print shows variations in Greek column architecture. It is from the book Roman Architecture, Sculpture & Monument, published by E. & F.N. Spon in 1900 (Plate CI-II). The original etching was published in 1756 in Antichita Romane - Piranesi’s defining work. It will fit best in a standard A1 size frame with a mount. For a print that is over 100 years old it is in good condition though there are several tears around the edge and one corner is missing. When framed these tears would be hidden by the mount. The thick paper has a beautiful old yellowed patina.”
