“Framed Original New Yorker magazine cover (May 1973) - by Andre Francois.
The New Yorker magazine was first published in 1925. Still going strong today, it covers a variety of topics from current affairs, biographical studies, reviews and events in the city, short fiction, commentaries on popular culture and cartoons. Its iconic covers are commissioned by well known artists, illustrators and cartoonists, on which dogs are a regular feature. Andre Francois was an award winning Hungarian born painter, illustrator and cartoonist. He illustrated many covers for the New Yorker and in this one, he perfectly captures the obsession of the little dog with the cat, who teases him from the safety of its neighbouring apartment. Framed in hand-painted black frame with wax finish.”
