Signs fulfil an important purpose. But they’re also great examples of graphic design. Vintage signs could have started out as road signs, instructions or adverts, but they will do a great job of grabbing attention in your home.
Your home should have as much personality as you do – signs make a loud and confident statement. They can change a room, giving it a new focal point or drawing your eye into a once-neglected corner. Your eyes naturally linger on text.
Styling vintage signs in your home
Not sure where to start? We don’t blame you. Vintage signs come in all shapes and sizes, as well as loads of one-of-a-kind designs. Sometimes they’re really big. And really bold.
Don’t shy away from the boldest signs, though. They won’t just be a talking point; they’ll be the conversation starter. What takes your fancy? Whether it’s a sign that means something to you – like a bus blind of where you grew up – or just something to give a shot of colour in a neutral room, vintage signs bring distinction to your décor. They can bring a gallery wall together or be the standalone feature. Signs might add some tongue-in-cheek humour or act as another decorative feature with its own brand of patina.
