This strange, elegant 1950s (or maybe earlier) filing cabinet is from an office in Digoin which is not only home to one of France’s most revered workwear factories but also one of its finest potteries. The top rolls back to reveal a storage compartment. The sides flip down once opened and there are compartments inside for filing or storage. We think it would make an excellent cocktail cabinet but there are loads of potential uses. The wheels -at the bases of beautifully tapered legs- are in very good condition and roll well. The lock works, the paint is in excellent condition (and is a lovely colour, too), the maker’s transfer is intact. All in all this is a really strong, unusual and elegant piece the likes of which we have never seen before. As close to a one-off as you’re like to find.
