Who are they?

A five piece from Seattle, who would -on the evidence of this album- much rather live deep in the woods than in one of America's bigger cities.  This is their debut.

What do I get?

Gentle, intelligent, cosmic American rock in the mould of the quieter bits of Arcade Fire or Mercury Rev.  This is a subtle album that will require a few listens to reveal it's many charms, but will soon have you hooked.  Fleet Foxes combine haunting guitar, rich harmonies and lovely melodies.  At the time of writing it's impossible to know whether they'll become the international phenomenon most critics predict but, whatever happens, this is a great record.

The first words sung on this record are 'Red squirrel in the morning/red squirrel at night'.  It's that kind of album.
