Yael Naim. Yael Naim

What the press say

‘Stripped-down, slow-motion… brilliant!’
Rolling Stone

If you've wondered where the fabulous soundtrack to Apple's latest laptop ad comes from, look no further...

Who is she?
Yael Naim was born in Paris to Tunisian, Sephardi-Jewish parents.   At the age of four she moved to Israel where, as a teenager, she served in the Israel Defence Forces as a soloist in the Air Force Orchestra.

What do I get?
A lovely album –recorded in Naim’s apartment in Paris- that deftly blends arty folk-pop, jazz and smoky vocals in a collection of great songs.  This is grown up, sophisticated music with real soul and warmth; the perfect soundtrack to lazy evenings and late nights.  There are songs in English, French and Hebrew; but even if the words remain a mystery there’s something cool and alluring in the way that they’re delivered.  This record will be huge. Get there first!

And?
In the US, huge digital sales followed the use of New Soul in the Apple advert.  The song debuted at number 9 in the Billboard Top 100, making Naim the first Israeli solo artist to ever have a top ten hit in the US.  Oh, and there’s a cover of Britney Spear’s Toxic.
