Who are they?
A four-piece from New York. This is their first record.
What do I get?
An album of intelligent, bouncy, summery pop songs that cleverly blend diverse influences to create something completely fresh and original. Mixing African rhythms, chiming guitars, soaring strings, clattering drums and harpsichord, Vampire Weekend pull off a rare trick; creating instantly lovable music of real depth and dexterity. This is a great album for singing along or driving to; a perfect summer record.
And?
There isn’t really a duff moment on this album. The absolute highlight though, is the instrumental M79; a sort of psychedelic version of the Ski Sunday theme.
