What the press say
'A very sleepy listen (and) a very lovely one'
Entertainment Weekly
If you want an album of lovely, grown-up, summery 'psychedelic folk' look no further than....
Who are they?
Goldfrapp is Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory. This is their fourth album and marks a return to the gentle, folksy sound of their debut.
What do I get?
Well, one of the best albums of 2008. This is music for grown-ups; mellow , gentle and highly melodic; and eccentric and complex at the same time. There are lovely tunes, killer hooks and bonkers lyrics. On one level this is a brilliant reinvention of modern folk music. On the other it is a complex record of entirely original music that will reward repeated listens. There are touches of The Beatles at their very best, and even of Serge Gainsbourg; but Seventh Tree's sound is unique... and wonderful.
And?
This is the third time Goldfrapp have reinvented their sound in their four-album-long career. With Madonna, Kylie and a legion of lesser artists citing them as an influence, they clearly feel a constant need to keep ahead of the pack.
