Edwyn Collins. Home Again

What the press say
‘A beautiful record.’ The Guardian

If you liked ‘80s pop pioneers Orange Juice and want to try a lovely, mellow record of British folk, country and soul try…

Who is he?
Collins was lead singer and songwriter with Orange Juice, whose biggest hit was the sublime Rip It Up.  But he’s best known for his million selling solo offering Girl Like You.  This is his sixth solo album.

What do I get?
An album of gentle folk, soul and country music, underscored by subtle percussion and simple guitar.  And all of this is driven along by Collins’ deep, rich and instantly recognisable croon.  There’s an incredibly addictive bluesy, Biblical stomp in the form of ‘7th Son’ and the gorgeous title track is worth the cover price alone. This is a really lovely record -not the sort that’ll change the world- but one that’ll soon have you reaching for the repeat button.

And?
In 2005, a brain haemorrhage left Collins unable to talk, walk or even play the guitar.  As soon as he’d recovered from the operation he contracted MRSA.  And now he’s got a new album out…
